Rhenium is a silver-white rare high melting point metal, its melting point in all theelements ranked third (the first two for tungsten, carbon), the boiling point of the first, the density is ranked fourth (the first three have platinum, iridium and osmium). Rhenium metal is hard, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. Rhenium is stable in air, at high temperatures and sulfur vaporization synthesis of rhenium disulfide, and fluorine, chlorine, bromine to form halides. Rhenium is insoluble in hydrochloric acid, but soluble in nitric acid and hot concentrated sulfuric acid. Rhenium does not act with hydrogen and nitrogen, but can absorb hydrogen. |
