Ruthenium is a hard and brittle light gray polyvalent rare metal, element symbol Ru, atomic number 44, located in the fifth-period group VIII, belongs to the d zone metal. Ruthenium, a member of the platinum group of metals, is found in the Earth's crust at only one part per billion and is one of the rarest metals. The property is very stable, with strong corrosion resistance, at room temperature, and can withstand hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and aqua regia corrosion. |
